Farm to Table: A Newsletter on All Things Data and AI
You may remember this newsletter as The Disinformer, but I've migrated to a new platform with a new name. So, welcome to Farm to Table, my new newsletter on all things data and AI!
Wow, it’s been a long time since I updated this newsletter! You may remember it as The Disinformer. But things change, and I've migrated to a new platform with a new name. So, welcome to Farm to Table, my new newsletter on all things data and AI.
A lot has happened since the last issue. I left academia, got a job in industry, PUBLISHED A BOOK (how did I not announce that here?!), had that book translated into Chinese, got acquired by another company, and then left the new company to form my own data consultancy.
Now that I’m self-employed, I’m going to take more time to write publicly again. So I’m re-upping this newsletter in conjunction with a new blog, and a slightly different topical focus. I’ll still cover cool data stuff, but there will be a lot less about social media and disinformation. These days, my work covers data science and architecture more broadly, so I’ll be covering a wider range of data-related topics that I hope will be interesting to people in business, in academia, and just generally interested in and concerned about the role that data plays in our society.
As a teaser, you've probably heard a lot of the buzz about the latest in generative AI — things like ChatGPT, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion... Well, I've been working with some of these new tools (and their predecessors) for a while now. I have a lot to share, and hopefully it helps you cut through some of the hype, fear, mystery, and technical jargon out there. So be on the lookout for a few posts in the coming weeks on these new developments in artificial intelligence. I’m not going to commit to how often I'll be posting just yet, but I think it’s safe to say there will be fewer than five years before the next post you see from me!
